1. Use a belt or scarf to tie a tourniquet two to four inches above the bite. The band should be between the bite and the victim's heart.

    

2. Make sure you can slip your finger between the band and the victim's skin and that you can feel a pulse below the band. If you cannot do this, loosen the band until you can.
