Bleeding — Arterial Pressure Points

It's best to stop bleeding by applying direct pressure to the wound, because this interferes less with the blood supply to other tissues than arterial pressure does. However, if you cannot stop bleeding with direct pressure alone, also apply pressure with your fingers held flat against the arterial pressure point that is closest to the wound, between it and the heart.
