Tampa Fire Fighters
Respond to the
Community After Local Area Tragedy
The City of Tampa
unfortunately recorded the first official fire deaths of 2002
on May 31. Tampa Fire Fighters made a valiant effort in
the Rescue of a grandmother and young granddaughter during a
response to a residential fire. Unfortunately the
victims later succumbed to their injuries at a local area
hospital. This recent tragedy highlights the importance
of properly installed and maintained smoke detectors, none
where found in the home of the victims.
In response to the recent events,
Tampa Fire
Fighters converged onto the East Tampa neighborhood where
the fire occurred. Going door to door, Tampa Fire
Fighters installed new smoke detectors and replaced old
batteries in existing smoke detectors.
